Spring season is starting for tourism but difficulties don't come to an end. After the fall of Baghdad, we started to be happy but now Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), which is sweeping through southeastern Asian countries, is affecting the world and tourism. On one side tourism is a very sensitive sector and on the other globalization.

An unusual event at the other side of the world is affecting your country's tourism. Don't we see this event today?

Who can say that "the war in Iraq doesn't bother us, this war will affect Iraq's neighbor; Turkey, they have to fight for it".

We heard how wrong it is from the news and experienced from the international tourism exhibitions that we attended.
The war in Iraq, not only affected Turkey's tourism but also Spanish, German, and American tourism and travel affected. The risks and worries related to war decreased reservation numbers all around the world, people preferred to stay at home, and especially after Sept. 11 most of the airline companies move close to bankruptcy.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) that appeared in Hong Kong and is sweeping through is being a world problem. World Health Organization (WHO) and measures taken by international airline companies. Passengers, suspected of being infected with SARS, are examined by health authorities in the airports.

The tourist numbers traveling from the Asian countries sharply declines. Cancellation of the vacations to the Asian countries also started.
